THERE ARE MOMENTS IN LIFE WHERE THE REALITY HAPPENING BEFORE ME CREATES AN IMPETUS TO CAPTURE IT IN IT'S AUTHENTICITY AND RAWNESS. I ALWAYS TRY TO FIND THE NARRATIVE WITHIN IMAGES THAT CONNECT YOU TO THE CHARACTERS AND SETTING. THERE'S SO MUCH GOING ON WITHIN DAILY LIFE THAT EVEN THE SMALLEST DETAIL CAN BE THE SHOT THAT TIES THE WHOLE STORY TOGETHER. THE OBJECTIVE NATURE OF PHOTO DOCUMENTARY HONESTLY CONVEYS AN UNBIASED SNAPSHOT OF LIFE-NO MATTER HOW BRUTALLY SURREAL IT MAY BE. ENJOY "LIFE" THROUGH MY LENS.
THERE’S ALWAYS A MOMENT - RIGHT BEFORE I LAND, WHERE I FEEL A DIZZYING ARRAY OF EMOTIONS... I START TO MOLT AND SHED OLD ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT THE WORLD, EMBRACING THE NEW VERSION OF MYSELF EMERGING AS THE PLANE’S WHEELS MEET THE TARMAC… I HOLD MY BREATH AND GRATEFULLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I’VE OFFICIALLY “ARRIVED”.
FATIGUE BECOMES A PSYCHEDELIC ONCE LACED WITH THE DIFFERENT TIME ZONES… BUT! ALAS, I’M OVER THE WALL, JUST AS THE SUN BEGINS TO SET - A PICTURE WORTH SAVORING AND THE NIGHT GREETS YOU IN A SEDUCTIVE GLOW OF INTOXICATING AMBIANCE.
MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT TRAVEL IS EXPLORING NEW GROUND. VENTURING TO FOREIGN CORNERS; UNCOVERING ROUTES THAT LEAD TO UNEXPECTED ADVENTURES - INEVITABLY ENDING WITH ME TRYING TO CHASE THE SUN.
I ALWAYS FEEL SOMETHING SO FAMILIAR, YET, UNRECOGNIZABLE INSIDE ME WHEN I’M LOOKING AT SEAGULLS THAT I MET IN LA-THAT ARE NOW IN HELLNAR, ICELAND…
THESE MOMENTS ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL MORE ALIVE THAN EVER...
THESE SNAPS ARE MY ATTEMPT TO CAPTURE THE MOMENTS I'VE WITNESSED MYSELF FEELING “MOST ALIVE”.
SHOOTING PORTRAITURE IS SUCH A FUN, CATHARTIC EXPERIENCE! I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING SO MANY AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL CLIENTS. (WHOM TURN INTO GREAT FRIENDS)
I LOVE WHEN I GET TO BRING OUT ALL THE COLOR AND LIGHTING TO MAKE THE PHOTO SESSION FEEL LIKE YOU’RE GETTING TO SEE YOUR ‘BEST’-SELF. IT’S LIKE A SUPER HERO CAPE THAT YOU GET TO LEAVE WITH AND HAVE WHENEVER YOU NEED IT…
WHENEVER I'M IN THE PHOTO PIT OR SHOOTING BACKSTAGE-I'D COMPARE IT TO WHAT I IMAGINE IT FEELS LIKE BEING A PILOT AND TAKING FLIGHT FOR THE HUNDREDTH TIME. SHOOTING LIVE MUSIC IS ALWAYS EXHILARATING FOR ME-MOSTLY BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHAT MY SUBJECTS ARE FEELING FOR THE DAY. WHEN SHOOTING MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY-"FEEL", IS EVERYTHING... THE SOUL WITHIN A GOOD MUSIC PHOTO IS PRODUCED BY BEING SYNCHED SIMULTANEOUSLY ON AN EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL LEVEL. A MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHER MUST BE A CALIBRATED REACTANT TO THAT IMPULSE OF EMOTION.
I LIKE TO THINK OF MY ART LIKE IT'S A BALLOON AND I'M GOING TO FILL IT RIGHT UNTIL IT FEELS AS THOUGH IT'S GOING TO POP! I LOVE CONTRAST AND THE WAY LIGHT AND COLOR COMMUNICATE TO ONE ANOTHER IN DIFFERENT ATMOSPHERES. I AM CONSTANTLY USING THE COVER OF NIGHT TO GET CREATIVE AND THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX WITH MY ART.
I'M ALWAYS SO INTRIGUED BY INTERIOR DESIGN. I LOVE WHEN I GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOOT BEAUTIFUL SPACES WITH MY CAMERA. THESE ARE SOME PHOTOS OF VARIOUS INTERIORS THAT I'VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF CAPTURING FOR CLIENTS.
Digital artwork by artist, Oh Jee Nam. Images are inspired by bringing vintage prints into the 21st century as beautiful, psychedelic collages that reinvent the past.
"FLOAT" was created in 2013. I was on a photo safari with a client that wanted me to document her weight loss and transformation when I came up with the idea to shoot her, "Floating". I wanted to shoot a composition that represented, "Weightlessness". Our set was so successful that it turned into a monster collection of subjects around Dallas. I held an art show in January at Kettle Art displaying my compositions. It felt good knowing that I had accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. This is still one of my favorite series.
